This is a fantastic example of a 7002 and I am ashamed to say I never wear it.

The basics: My trusted watchmaker replaced the main gasket and pressure tested the watch to 200M.

That said, my advice is DO NOT dive with it. Do so at your peril. I do NOT warrant its water resistance.

He also replaced the Hardlex crystal with sapphire.

Lastly, he replaced the black bezel insert with the Pepsi as shown.

NOTE: The 7002-7039 Ref is the same for both black and Pepsi inserts, so calm down all you originalists!

The strap is a decent curved model from Uncle Seiko.

The buckle is a Seiko model I found on Ebay. I brushed it to get the look into the ballpark with the case. Looks fine to me. You want to change it, go for it!

The bezel can get tight but since I never really turn it, or DIVE with it. I don't care. If you care, have the bezel gasket replaced.

The screw-down crown is fine. BUT, be sure to press down to engage the threads before you turn. Remind yourself that everything on this watch is 30+ years old and you will be fine.

This watch is a runner and, no, I have not timed it.

The company was founded in 1881, when Kintarō Hattori opened a watch and jewelry shop called "K. Hattori" (服部時計店 Hattori Tokeiten?) in the Ginza area of Tokyo, Japan. Eleven years later, in 1892, he began to produce clocks under the name Seikosha (精工舎 Seikōsha?), meaning roughly "House of Exquisite Workmanship". According to Seiko's official company history, titled "A Journey In Time: The Remarkable Story of Seiko" (2003), Seiko is a Japanese word meaning "exquisite" or "success" ("exquisite" is usually written 精巧 from Chinese jīngqiǎo, while the meaning "success" is usually written 成功 from Chinese chénggōng).

Seiko is perhaps best known for its wristwatches, all of which were at one time produced entirely in-house. This includes not only major items such as microgears, motors, hands, crystal oscillators, batteries, sensors, LCDs but also minor items such as the oils used in lubricating the watches and the luminous compounds used on the hands and the dials.
