This reference captures the perfect harmony between technical excellence and understated style that defined Omega through the 1960s. Unlike the well-known Pie Pan dials, this particular example features a flat dial that curves gently toward the edges, giving it a smooth, balanced appearance on the wrist. The dial is beautifully preserved, with sharp applied gold hour markers, Dauphine hands, and the signature Omega logo and Constellation star. Subtle tritium pips sit at the edge of each marker, providing legibility and period-correct warmth. The case is a stunning gold-capped (demi gold) over stainless steel construction — a hallmark of this reference — paired with Omega’s signature dog-leg lugs. These faceted lugs give the case a strong geometric presence while maintaining an elegant wrist profile at 34 mm in diameter. The caseback features the deeply engraved Observatory medallion with eight stars, symbolizing Omega’s chronometer triumphs. Completing the design is a signed Omega plexiglass crystal and a custom leather strap with Omega buckle. Inside beats the Omega Caliber 551, a chronometer-certified automatic movement renowned for its precision and durability. This example remains in great original condition, showing light wear consistent with age with no dents. Case and caseback shows well-preserved shapes. The dial has developed patina on the surface but there’s no scratches or damages. Crystal is clean and in great shape. It comes fitted on custom alligator straps with yellow gold Omega buckle. The watch has been serviced and it currently keeps great time in chronometer certified range at +/-2s a day with amplitube of 297.
