For sale is this vintage Seiko (6530-5000), made in Japan in April of 1983. This is a rare Seiko dress watch with a special dial and an elegant case in excellent condition. The dial itself has a centre that has a tatami-inspired pattern that appears in some light and disappears in other angles. The surrounding edge is matte gold and has sharp, high-polish stick baton indices at the 12, 3, 6 and 9 and black lines for the rest. The dauphine hands are high-polish gold. Being a time-only watch with no seconds hand shows to others that the wearer is in no hurry. The simplicity is continued by only having the Seiko logo and "quartz" on the dial. The Suwa swirl symbol at the bottom of the dial and the case back indicates that the watch was designed and manufactured by the Suwa factory during their fierce rivalry with the Daini factory. The gold plated case is reminiscent of the Cartier Tank design language, as is the dauphine hands, although with Seiko's own spin. The angular nature of the lugs and the "dimples" at the corners are a nice touch that define this model and gives it it's uniqueness. The lug-to-lug is elongated to add to the gothic aura of the watch. The bezel is raised and polished while the top face of the case has linear brushing. The gold plating has some beautiful purple hues in places due to ageing.  The calibre 6530 is an interesting movement with its gold top plate that matches the watch. The watch is in great condition for its age of over 40 years old with minimal wear. It would look great with a suit under a cuff being only 5.5mm thin.
