The defining feature is a case designed to rotate so the watch dial can be flipped inside, ostensibly to protect the fragile crystal from impacts…say a flying ball during a mythic polo match. There are touches of blue throughout – blued steel hands, blue cabochon at 12 o’clock, and original blue crocodile strap. An ultra thin hand-wound mechanical movement by F. Piguet powers the watch. Dial features beautiful guilloche detail from edge to edge; Swiss signed. Large model, reference 2390. Avalable now. Can show face-to-face in San Francisco Bay Area

King Edward VII of England referred to Cartier as "the jeweller of kings and the king of jewellers. "For his coronation in 1902, Edward VII ordered 27 tiaras and issued a royal warrant to Cartier in 1904. Similar warrants soon followed from the courts of Spain, Portugal, Russia, Siam, Greece, Serbia, Belgium, Romania, Egypt, Albania, Monaco, and the House of Orleans.
