Asking $6700 (shipped) for a Rolex Explorer II with a Y-serial (which dates to approximately 2002). This example is from a transitional period where the ref. 16570 was moving to a no-holes case. It also has the Super Luminova "Swiss Made" dial.

The watch was just serviced last month by Nesbit's Fine Watch Service in Seattle (see service receipt), which is considered to be one of the best independent watch service businesses here in the US. They are one of the few watch makers in the country that are still able to order genuine parts directly from Rolex. The service comes with a 3-year warranty from Nesbit's. The watch has been pressure tested (100bar) and is ready to do what it was designed to do (explore).

Movement: The Rolex Caliber 3185 was just overhauled at Nesbit's and is running perfectly (see timegrapher printout). I wore this watch daily for a few weeks and the watch was averaging about 0 to +1 second or so per day.

Case: The case was lightly polished during service, but the bevels and the separation between brushed and polished surfaces remain prominent (see pictures). The 40mm case dimensions wear perfectly on all wrist sizes.

Bezel: The original bezel has normal signs of wear and scratches, but you can still see the factory brushing and numerals are still all black and solid.

Bracelet: There is some wear in the 78790A bracelet as you would expect from a 23 year old watch, but still plenty of life. The bracelet is currently missing (I believe) 2 sizing links. I just stopped by an AD the other day (Ben Bridge flagship store in Seattle), and they confirmed that you can buy extra links for $55 each if needed.

Accessories: Watch, Rolex service pouch, Vanguard strap, movement parts replaced by Nesbit's.

Reason for Selling: I am not a dealer (just a guy who likes watches), and the Explorer 2 has always been somewhat a grail watch for me. I bought this example from a member of another watch community, had it serviced, and I really enjoyed wearing it. However, after going down Explorer 2 rabbit hole, I finally decided to spend the extra money for a newer version with a 3186 movement.

Looking for payment via PP F&F or wire. I know this is a big purchase, so I am happy to jump on a video chat and show you the watch and answer any questions you might have. Thanks for looking!
