Up for sale is my Seikomatic-R 27 jewels Gold plated. Seiko SUWA developed the 83XX series in 1963 - an automatic movement that also incorporated the mechanical winding feature. It also uses certain elements of the 62XX series movements with the intention to create a slimmer (dress) watch. This Gold-Filled Case November 1966 Seiko 8346-8000, Seikomatic-R, 27 Jewels Automatic Watch is the predecessor to the 8306 Business-A model and the 8305 Seikomatic-R models. The "R" stands for "Re-worked," hence it is an improved 840 movement, perhaps incorporating certain elements of the 62XX series into this movement. Originally meant strictly for the Japanese Market, this is thus, a highlysort after Collectible with AD status. For Seiko Collectors and Vintage fans, this is a Seiko SUWA (without the logo) in near mint condition. The "AD" (Applied Dial) indicates that the 3D Baton Indices and Dauphine Hands are 14K solid gold and the case is gold-filled. The crystal is brand new. The crown is original and is located at the 3H position. The date and hands quickset operates in the traditional manner by pulling the crown to the first and second levels respectively; and both rotate flawlessly. There is no proper quickset for day adjustment. The day quickset is via turning the hands backwards and forwards past midnight to 4H and backwards to 8H for until the correct day appears in the window. The day is only in English.
