For sale is a “Red Alpinist” from 1995. [**Pictures**](https://imgur.com/gallery/tNF9RHM) **|** [**Timestamp**](https://i.imgur.com/TGvVuvn.jpeg) This one of the models that pre-dated the SARB017 and one of the last Seikos to come with the 4S movement (28,800bph, -15/+25sec). This one runs incredibly well with little positional variance. The watch is in good condition, no scratches, dial and crystal is in good condition, the N- North marker on the internal compass has faded to white, the Caseback logo faded away which is common for these watches if they were worn. Screw-down caseback and crown for good water resistant (5atm). Housing the high grade Seiko 4S15 movement with 28800bph. The movement was serviced and running good. Case size is 36mm with 43mm from lug to lug, 19mm of lug width and 11mm of thickness. Watch only, come with a olive green leather strap, no box or papers. Price **$1600** + shipping- No trade please. The company was founded in 1881, when Kintarō Hattori opened a watch and jewelry shop called "K. Hattori" (服部時計店 Hattori Tokeiten?) in the Ginza area of Tokyo, Japan. Eleven years later, in 1892, he began to produce clocks under the name Seikosha (精工舎 Seikōsha?), meaning roughly "House of Exquisite Workmanship". According to Seiko's official company history, titled "A Journey In Time: The Remarkable Story of Seiko" (2003), Seiko is a Japanese word meaning "exquisite" or "success" ("exquisite" is usually written 精巧 from Chinese jīngqiǎo, while the meaning "success" is usually written 成功 from Chinese chénggōng).

Seiko is perhaps best known for its wristwatches, all of which were at one time produced entirely in-house. This includes not only major items such as microgears, motors, hands, crystal oscillators, batteries, sensors, LCDs but also minor items such as the oils used in lubricating the watches and the luminous compounds used on the hands and the dials.
