[WTS] Vulcain Cricket 39 Reissue, Mechanical Alarm, LE of 50. Alarm video in description!
Good evening, WatchEx! Second and final for tonight: an exceptionally well-done reissue of the classic alarm watch, the Vulcain Cricket 39. This is one you won't see every day. Vulcain has a long history of watchmaking dating back into the mid-1800's. Nearly a century later, the Cricket model was released, introducing a very unique feature - a mechanical alarm. As those are now relics of the past, there are very few examples of mechanical alarms in watchmaking today - and sure, it's absolutely not a necessary complication with moderate technology, but how cool is this? The modern Cricket was released roughly a year ago in very limited quantities. The original alarm movement was remade to modernized spec, and is really a treat to handle. This is one of those watches where you'll want to read the instruction manual. The alarm is operated using the pusher near 2 o'clock - one press of the button will pop the crown out, allowing you to set the alarm, utilizing the 0-60 scale between each hour marker for accuracy. Pop the crown back in, and it's set. This mechanism runs on a separate power reserve than the main timekeeping mechanism - wind one way for the alarm, and the other for the movement. Pretty clever by today's standards, extremely elaborate for the mid-1900's. [Alarm Video](https://youtu.be/8ulReibtKaw?si=UIgqcs2pFjMSIQEY) - **the alarm video was shot in pretty close proximity to the watch as it went off. It's not deafening in reality, but you (and anyone else in your conference room) will hear it. It vibrates/chirps for ~20 seconds on a full wind, and can be silenced/stopped by pressing the alarm pusher in halfway.** [Full review from Teddy Bulbasaur](https://youtu.be/rvPWcCPFNZA?si=JQYaa-SqlysCr3PV) - a much, much better video of the alarm function in here Fun quirks aside, the watch itself is so perfectly vintage, that it's worth the price just for the aesthetic. This 39mm salmon dial was limited to just 50 total units (36/50, for those wondering) and sold out extremely quickly upon release. The deep-dish box sapphire crystal accents it well, and stays true to the original design. The mix of black and copper-toned hands/text/markers work perfectly with the soft salmon dial, and it wears exceptionally well on any wrist size. Important note: this is the close/steel caseback variant - this was also offered with a very sharp sapphire exhibition caseback, which also gives a slightly different resonating tone from the alarm. [Sapphire Caseback/Cal.V-10 Movement Photo](https://imgur.com/a/9rGE5Pf). While the sapphire caseback is stunning, the classic, truer to heritage close caseback is a beauty in its own right. I've recently reached out to Vulcain to see if it's possible to order the sapphire caseback separately - no response yet. Price is shipped/insured within the US (FedEx or UPS 2-day, buyer's choice), international shipping available at buyer's expense (typically not more than $50-60.) Zelle preferred, PP F&F/Venmo/CashApp also accepted. Tons of sales references on here, hundreds more on various reputable watch groups on Facebook - I have a flawless track record with over 600 watches sold. Sale heavily preferred, will consider trades around the $3,500 mark. Thanks for looking - Cheers!
