Tudor Submariner 79190 Serial: B953xxx Year: 1997 Clasp Code: Z4 Year: 1997 I have a really nice Tudor 79190 Submariner for sale, the last reference of the Tudor Subs and the only one with a sapphire crystal and unidirectional click bezel. I bought this from someone on watchuseek a couple years ago and actually sold it off once already about a year ago while I was looking to put together funds for a home down payment. A few months went by and the person I sold it to offered it back and I was financially in the position to buy it from them. Unfortunately I think I need to start looking for a new vehicle and it makes the most sense to try and offload this once again. This is a great watch and keeps great time, within 3 seconds a day last I had it checked at my local watchmaker. I do not know the service history but the service tech who checked it said that the movement appeared healthy and still had plenty of time before a service would be needed. I’ve also had it pressure tested 3 different times in the two or so years I’ve owned it and it has always passed with flying colors, most recently was in December. I do recommend the new owner have it at least pressure tested, if not have the seals replaced if they want to use it for any real water activity. It is all original with the later solid link bracelet. There is one removable link installed and it fits my roughly 6 3/4” - 7” comfortably on the tightest clasp setting. The dial and hands are perfect with a matching hint of cream starting in the tritium. The bezel dot has the usual chip in it but I will include a tritium replacement (roughly $200 and increasingly difficult to find) that is a pretty much perfect match in aging as the dial and hands. I had planned on having it installed by Zimmerman Watch Repair eventually while having the case touched up using their amazing welding technique but I never got around to it. Probably for the better and I decided I'd let the next owner choose if they wanted to go that route or retain its originality. That said, the case has character consistent with a watch worn daily but also well taken care of. It looks like it has probably had a light polish in the past but still retains its factory chamfers. The bracelet is still pretty tight and has some swirls and such on the links and clasps but overall I think still very good condition. The clasp codes match the serial number on the case as far as production test goes. Overall I think this is a very nice and honest example of Tudors last submariner. Its closest cousin would be the Rolex 16800 submariner with the matte dial and saphire crystal although this Tudor is even thinner due to the ETA movement. I’d like to get $6,000 for it which I think is fair based on sold listings I’ve watched over the past year. That’s what I bought it for, sold it once for, and then bought it back again for last spring. Please message me with any questions and I can provide more photos on request. Thanks!
