Manufacturing of Elgin watches took place at their facility in Elgin, Illinois.* This Elgin pocket watch was manufactured in Elgin, Illinois, and was finished in 1893. The watch is powered by Elgin’s 15 jewel Grade 76 movement, which was produced between 1887-1896. The movement features 15 jewels and a beautiful gilt finish. The movement has been restored including the blue accents, which were originally added by Elgin at the time of manufacture. The accents were restored prepping each piece and then thermally treating each part by hand to color the iron based components. The brass jewel settings have been restored to their original golden color, and the black, enamel letting was added by hand. The Elgin dial is porcelain-enamel and in excellent condition. The watch is cased in the original gold-filled case and the 14 karat gold movement ring stamped “Jas. Boss 14 K” is included as well.
