The Omega Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch Apollo 8 “Dark Side of the Moon” (311.92.44.30.01.001) draws its inspiration from the momentous Apollo 8 mission in 1968, a pioneering voyage that saw humans orbiting the moon for the very first time. While aboard the Apollo 8 spacecraft, the astronauts achieved a historic first by capturing images of the uncharted and shadowed lunar hemisphere, a milestone that bestowed upon this unique watch the moniker “Dark Side of the Moon” celebrating 50 years since the original mission.

This timepiece has an elegant design with a special black dial that looks like the moon’s surface through a laser ablation process and a black ceramic dial with contrasting yellow accents. It wears well on the wrist with a supple black leather strap with yellow accents.

This watch comes as a set including instruction booklet, pictograms card, soft carry case, original hangtag, large polishing cloth, and is triple boxed (black inner wooden box, outer black cardboard box and outermost brown cardboard box).

Condition:

A beautiful piece in mint condition. Crystal and bezel are pristine, with very minimal evidence of wear (see photos). Mechanically the watch is running well.
