Buenos Dias Amigos of WatchExchange, I am here to show you a watch that is totally different than the 5000 Seiko ads that you ignored on your way to click this link. The watch is a German-made microbrand called Vintro. It was listed as #53 in Teddy Baldassarre’s list of 52 most promising microbrands to watch in 2020. All joking aside it’s a great watch and I’m letting it go to you because it sits in a lonely box all day. It’s too nice and I don’t do nice things anymore (2 young kids). Still interested? Let’s get down to business… I am looking for a $450 for the watch. MSRP is 600 euro and they’ve been sold out for quite some time. It is a rose-gold plated automatic chronograph numbered 69 (nice) out of 500 ever made. What’s more is that it has a beautiful and no-longer-produced Seagull ST1940 movement. It is the rare automatic version of Seagull’s famed ST1901 manual wind movement that you see everywhere nowadays. The automatic version had a limited run and is EXTREMELY rare to come across today. The company was founded in 1881, when Kintarō Hattori opened a watch and jewelry shop called "K. Hattori" (服部時計店 Hattori Tokeiten?) in the Ginza area of Tokyo, Japan. Eleven years later, in 1892, he began to produce clocks under the name Seikosha (精工舎 Seikōsha?), meaning roughly "House of Exquisite Workmanship". According to Seiko's official company history, titled "A Journey In Time: The Remarkable Story of Seiko" (2003), Seiko is a Japanese word meaning "exquisite" or "success" ("exquisite" is usually written 精巧 from Chinese jīngqiǎo, while the meaning "success" is usually written 成功 from Chinese chénggōng).

Seiko is perhaps best known for its wristwatches, all of which were at one time produced entirely in-house. This includes not only major items such as microgears, motors, hands, crystal oscillators, batteries, sensors, LCDs but also minor items such as the oils used in lubricating the watches and the luminous compounds used on the hands and the dials.
