About this reference: A watch that was born in the spirit of conquering mountaintops, the Explorer has from its launch been known as a classic, minimalist sports watch that's ready and equipped for anything. First offered by Rolex in 1953, the collection has changed little over the course of its existence, at its core remaining committed to its essential qualities: an action-ready steel Oyster case, a signature "three, six, and nine" dial configuration with a matching pair of highly-legible Mercedes hands, and a reliable, time-only automatic caliber keeping steady track of the passing hours, minutes, and seconds when it matters most.  As the final Rolex Explorer to be housed in a 36mm case prior to the size's reintroduction in 2021 via the ref. 124270, the ref. 114270 here was the last in a long line of watches that essentially saw very little change over the course of almost five decades. At its core, the watch features a classic Explorer style with some technical upgrades compared to the previous generation ref. 14270.
