Offering here my JDM-only Grand Seiko SBGS-009, featuring the legendary 9581 high-accuracy quartz movement, Zaratsu polished case/markers and a classic silver sunburst / champagne-toned dial. This is an uncommon reference, rarely seen for sale in the US. Most, if not all currently listed examples of this watch are located in Japan and come with added taxes, tariffs/duties and international shipping fees. My watch is in TX, USA right now and priced “all-in”, with fully insured shipping included. ____ My experience: This is an exceptional dress-focused Grand Seiko timepiece. At approximately 36mm diameter (inclusive of the crown.) and just ~7mm thick, it wears incredibly light and elegant on the wrist. I have a 6.75in wrist and this watch just melts right into it as you can see in the wrist shot. The no-date layout keeps the dial perfectly balanced, and the HAQ movement has been nothing short of flawless — this watch has not drifted even one second during my ownership. ⸻ Details •Reference: Grand Seiko SBGS-009 (9581-7020, JDM only reference) •Movement: Grand Seiko 9581 High Accuracy Quartz (rated ±10 sec/year) •Case: Stainless steel •Crystal: Sapphire •Dial: Silver sunburst featuring a subtle champagne hue with Zaratsu polished markers and applied indices all the way around. •Functions: Time only (no date) •Size: ~34.5mm case × ~7mm thick. The company was founded in 1881, when Kintarō Hattori opened a watch and jewelry shop called "K. Hattori" (服部時計店 Hattori Tokeiten?) in the Ginza area of Tokyo, Japan. Eleven years later, in 1892, he began to produce clocks under the name Seikosha (精工舎 Seikōsha?), meaning roughly "House of Exquisite Workmanship". According to Seiko's official company history, titled "A Journey In Time: The Remarkable Story of Seiko" (2003), Seiko is a Japanese word meaning "exquisite" or "success" ("exquisite" is usually written 精巧 from Chinese jīngqiǎo, while the meaning "success" is usually written 成功 from Chinese chénggōng).

Seiko is perhaps best known for its wristwatches, all of which were at one time produced entirely in-house. This includes not only major items such as microgears, motors, hands, crystal oscillators, batteries, sensors, LCDs but also minor items such as the oils used in lubricating the watches and the luminous compounds used on the hands and the dials.
