From the moment it donned the wrist of aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont care of his pal Louis Cartier in 1904 to this SWEET limited edition released a few years ago, the Cartier Santos Dumont has hit hard. Always a wholly unique design but maybe none more so than this 500 piece release with 18k rose gold bezel and salmon guilloche dial! These sold out immediately and most have been held onto, with only a handful listed currently listed overseas. The last example to hit the market sold just last week through Christie’s for well into five figures! YEAR: 2021 REF: W2SA0025 DIAL: The star of the show, a perfect salmon tone with an incredible guilloche center! The pattern completely changes depending on how the light hits it, pair that with the stainless Arababic numerals and those classic blued Cartier hands and it all equals one of the most incredible dials I’ve ever seen. Mint condition. Just gorgeous! CRYSTAL: Flat sapphire crystal to preserve the thin design, one tiny smudge/scratch seen under a loupe at just the right angle, but appears mint on the wrist. CASE: The modern XL size at 33.9MM x 46.6MM in stainless with solid 18K rose gold bezel. It’s super slim, just 7.2MM thick, and wears amazingly well, photographed on my 6.6 inch wrist. Has enough modern presence while still staying classy. The case is unpolished with sharp lines throughout and those great oversized chamfers. Regular wear, mostly on the gold bezel of course and a little rubbing on the case back, but all in an awesome example. MOVEMENT: Cartier’s hand wound slim caliber 430 MC is winding and setting like butter, and keeping nearly perfect time, within a few seconds a days. STRAP: Comes on its original black alligator Cartier strap. Size S/M, so perfect for wrists up to app 7.2 inches. Strap has just light wear, has seen little use, still being broken in. And comes complete with its matching stainless Cartier pin buckle. ACCESSORIES: Watch with original strap and buckle in a Cartier travel pouch.
