Often regarded as the dressier sibling to Grand Seiko, this model captures everything that made the King Seiko line special — precision, purity, and presence. The watch features a stainless steel case measuring approximately 36.5mm to 37mm, defined by its sharp, angular geometry and high-polish Zaratsu-style finishing. Every edge and plane has been executed with precision, reflecting light cleanly in that signature Taro Tanaka style. The case is complemented by a screw-in case back with a gold King Seiko medallion, a hallmark of Seiko’s upper-tier craftsmanship during this golden era. Powering the watch is the Caliber 4502A, a hand-wound, 25-jewel, high-beat movement running at 36,000 vibrations per hour — offering smooth seconds motion and exceptional accuracy. It also features hacking seconds and an instantaneous date change mechanism, both rare and refined technical details for its time. The silver sunburst dial radiates understated elegance, with faceted baton indices and razor-sharp dauphine hands finished to perfection. There’s no lume anywhere on the dial, staying true to its minimalist, formal aesthetic. The original domed acrylic crystal adds just the right amount of vintage warmth, catching light in a way only old-school watchmaking can deliver. This example remains in good vintage condition, showing only light wear consistent with age. The case retains its sharp lines, the dial is clean, crystal shows no scratches.
