[WTS] Seiko April 1966 "Seikomatic-R" 30J Bullet Indices (8305-1010), Japan-Made
For sale is this vintage Seiko "Seikomatic-R" (8305-1010), made in Japan in April of 1966. The first thing that hits you abou the design of model, reference number MAC010, is the sceptre crosshair dial with the applied Seiko logo off centre on the left, giving it a low-slung feeling. The well-finished date window balances out the design on the other side of the sunburst dial. Interestingly, there are two versions of this design, this being the first iteration, where the second revision (released during 1967) is without the "Diashock" and replaces it with the "Seikomatic-R" and adds the Suwa factory swirl symbol towards the middle bottom of the dial. I would assume as the diashock technology was no longer new and becoming more commonplace, but I still feel like the original iteration (this one) has the best balance in design. The second iteration also rids of the dolphin waterproof logo on the case back to opt for the Seiko logo instead which is a shame. The highlight of the design is the bullet-shaped indices that are very '60s but are truly unique. I've never seen this been done before on a watch dial, gives it a real sense of menace. The case continues the menacing styling with gothic Omega-esque twisted lugs. The original brushing is still so crisp after 60 years which is amazing. Another '60s stying choice is a semi-jumbo 38mm case size, giving the watch more presence. The highly-jewelled calibre 8305 movement is a beautiful sight to behold and is running amazingly within 4 seconds per day, with a beat error of 0.2. As stated before, the watch is fantastic condition for its age with only light wear, slight dial discolouration (and some minor damage in the centre) and faint scratches on the crystal. General wear expected. Comes on a brand new high-quality strap that is very soft and comfortable. Dimensions are: 38.1mm x 41.6mm x 10.6mm Lug Width 20mm Bought in Japan.
