This is the Grand Seiko nearly perfected. The case is a reinterpretation of the 62GS from 1967. Not only does the watch have near perfect proportions at 40 mm x 12.8 with a lug to lug of 47mm. The height of 12.8 may seem thick but the box crystal takes up much of that making the watch appear quite thin (for an auto grand seiko at least.) The case and bracelet are made from titanium and then polished to the exacting standards of Grand Seiko. Of course, the stand out feature is the dial. The pattern is visible in all lights and changes from a dark mottled gray to a silvery gray. The name, “winter” is supposed to invoke snow, but it reminds me more of the overcast clouds of a Pacific Northwest winter. It’s stunning. Add the blued seconds hand and the gold applied logo and you have a perfect dial. This watch is in amazing condition with only a few small scratches here and there. The most notable are some desk diving marks on the bracelet. That is no surprise since the watch was purchased from an AD in Wisconsin in February 2025.
