Up for grabs is an attractive Omega Speedmaster 2998-62. It's far from a perfect example and needs the attention of a watchmaker to at least reseat the setting lever screw, but I've priced it aggressively low (I think?). This could make a really great daily driver with some attention. Feel free to ask questions, etc. I purchased this watch about 10 years ago from a collector in the UK. Here's a funny little story he sent me about how he came to own the watch:

“I got the watch from an old gent at a watch fair in Birmingham (UK). He was trying to sell it to a dealer and I pounced on him as soon as the greedy dealer low balled him. He told me he’d had it for 40 years but didn’t mention where he obtained it. To be honest the only thing I was interested in was the fact it hadn’t been round the dealers and messed with. He said it was serviced regularly and he seemed a pleasant honest old boy.”

Case: Correct, straight lug case has been previously polished and shows signs of wear, but still retains its shape with thick and even lugs

Dial: Correct dial has been relumed in the past, presumably during a service in the 60s, since the tritium no longer reacts. I think it actually looks very nice and has a pleasant tone. Original alpha hands and correct drop chrono hand have been relumed in the past.

Movement: Caliber 321, will run strong if wound, but I accidentally unseated the setting lever screw after removing the crown when the stem broke (doh!), so it's probably a good time for a movement service, since the dial will need to come off to reseat the screw. Serial is in the correct range for the reference.

Crown/pushers/crystal/bezel: comes with a service crown -- watch needs a stem. Looks as if the original crystal was replaced in the past. Pushers are correct. Original DON bezel shows wear throughout.

Accessories: The watch comes head only. I don't have an extract.

Price: Given the relume and the need for a service, I'm pricing this at $7500 + fully insured shipping.

Oh.. and please excuse the small piece of GOUDA? between 11 and 12 on the bezel 😀

Estimated Private Party Value $2,600 — $6,196
