This one hurts - it’s one of my favorite watches but has been seeing very little wrist time, so up on the block it goes.
Up for sale is my Longines Heritage 1973 Racing Chronograph (year of manufacture - 2014). This stunner has the sexy looks of a chrono from the heady days of road racing but houses a modern, column wheel L688.2 movement exclusive to Longines.
The 1973 features a slick tonneau case and a panda style racing dial with a stealthy twelve hour counter at six and date at 4:30. Indices are applied. The chrono seconds hand has an ultra-cool javelin shape, a design choice that accentuates the mid-century look.
The case features a mix of brushed and polished finishes (sunray brushed top/polished sides), with a push/pull crown at three, flanked by low profile chrono pushes. The case profile and sides show off gentle curves that temper what might otherwise be an overly angular look. There’s a recessed date corrector at ten.
Condition notes: This is a used watch. Overall condition is excellent - please see photos. will point out some minor bites on the polished flanks and barely noticeable strap changing marks on the backs of the lugs. Watch received a movement service in 2021 and is running to spec.
