For sale is the Grand Seiko SBGY011 Asaborake. Manual wind Spring Drive in a thin 44GS case with 100m water resistance. Price: I’m asking $4,750 shipped CONUS. Payment via Bank Wire, Zelle, or PayPal F&F (for established members only). Located in South Florida. Movement: 9R31 Spring Drive. Manual wind with 3-day power reserve indicator on the back. This is the thin movement found in the SBGY007 and SBGY013 Omiwatari. Condition: Excellent. This watch is 3 months old with warranty dated August 2024. The bezel may have some light hairlines and there is a scratch around 3:30 (see photos 12 and 13 in the album). Lugs, case, crystal, and caseback are excellent. OEM Alligator strap and GS deployant are like new. Specs: 40mm x 10.5mm. Box sapphire crystal with AR coating. 100m water resistant. Exhibition sapphire caseback. Power reserve indicator. The company was founded in 1881, when Kintarō Hattori opened a watch and jewelry shop called "K. Hattori" (服部時計店 Hattori Tokeiten?) in the Ginza area of Tokyo, Japan. Eleven years later, in 1892, he began to produce clocks under the name Seikosha (精工舎 Seikōsha?), meaning roughly "House of Exquisite Workmanship". According to Seiko's official company history, titled "A Journey In Time: The Remarkable Story of Seiko" (2003), Seiko is a Japanese word meaning "exquisite" or "success" ("exquisite" is usually written 精巧 from Chinese jīngqiǎo, while the meaning "success" is usually written 成功 from Chinese chénggōng).

Seiko is perhaps best known for its wristwatches, all of which were at one time produced entirely in-house. This includes not only major items such as microgears, motors, hands, crystal oscillators, batteries, sensors, LCDs but also minor items such as the oils used in lubricating the watches and the luminous compounds used on the hands and the dials.
