Carrera. The word instantly transports me to my childhood bedroom. Staring at a poster of a shiny red Porsche Carrera. Wide-eyed. Dreaming of racing. The Heuer Carrera is not connected to the famous car (fortunately it’s a heck of a lot cheaper!) but it is connected to the famous race, the Carrera Panamericana that took place throughout the 1950s. This inspired Jack Heuer to create the Heuer Carrera starting in 1962. This particular model, reference 1153, is from a decade later, often referred to as the Mick Jagger since The Stones’ frontman famously wore one (although a year or two newer with an orange chrono hand.) An icon on all the levels, and this is an AWESOME example! REFERENCE: 1153 YEAR: app 1972 DIAL: You’ll see these in a few colors but this one is hard to beat, goes from royal blue to steely gray depending on the light - so sweet! Very light wear and some lume degradation seen under macro, but all in about as clean as they come, including that gorgeous white tachymeter scale! CASE: Classic 70s style with the subtle C-shaped 38mm stainless case. This is a super sharp example with great crisp lines. Very light wear throughout, mostly seen between the lugs, likely rubbing from a previous bracelet, and caseback marks. All in a fantastic example that wears beautifully (photographed on my 6.6 inch wrist.) Special shout out to that awesome original Heuer crown! MOVEMENT: Automatic chronograph running very well. Previous owner purchased this as part of a big collection, it’s been mostly unworn for many years. Service history unknown but winding and setting smoothly with chronograph functioning perfectly and timegrapher numbers looking good at 10 seconds a day and an amplitude of 271. STRAP: Comes on a lightly worn black rally style leather strap, perfectly suiting the watch’s race history. Also comes with what I believe is it’s original Heuer buckle - an awesome combo!
