However, the Vietnam war would shift the brand’s focus to helping fulfill contracts for the military. When the U.S. military put out a call to produce the MIL-W-50717, a robust dive watch intended for use by UDT, Navy Seals, and other special operatives that would need to withstand deep diving and serious abuse in combat situations, Benrus came up with the Type 1 and Type 2.
