This hybrid/electronic movement was a transitional technology between mechanical and quartz watches, where a mechanical movement is driven by a battery instead of a mainspring. Case is about 38mm across, and the integrated bracelet gives it a solid, modern feel on the wrist. For those unfamiliar, the day and date are set by pressing the 3:00 crown (hold it 12:00 up to set the date or 6:00 up to set the day), and the 8:00 crown snaps the seconds hand back to 12:00 for precise time setting.
