Next up for sale is an IWC 5251. In the late 70's early 80's Kurt Klaus believed the classic 9251 pocket watch movement belonged somewhere other then sitting in a pocket. It was with this in mind that the, now classic, line of the Portofino was born. The piece that I am offering has its DNA throughout the modern lineup, with the roman numerals and moonphase being icons in the modern portofino lineup. The exact number of these pieces is unknown but currently there are believed to have been about 130, with some having an open caseback (like this one) and some even rarer ones with a closed back. Its a solid gold 46mm case, that is a meer 4.15mm thick so surprisingly thin given it size and wears more like a 44 (imho). It's in very good condition considering its age, no marks or dings on the case seeing as it is a very dressy watch was only really worn on certain occassion. Asking $16,000 OBRO.
