[WTS] Revue Thommen Airspeed 8516.002 Chronograph w/ ETA 251.262
This is a rare Revue Thommen Airspeed Swiss quartz chronograph. It features the exceptional ETA 251.262 movement, a highly advanced quartz chronograph movement that puts both the seconds and minutes registers on the main dial. (Running seconds are in a subdial.) Start the chronograph and one large central hand starts counting seconds, while another with a red pointer hand counts minutes. Compared to a conventional chronograph, it makes reading the elapsed time incredibly easy, making this "the perfect pilot's chronograph." The red dial provides high contrast and good visibility in low light, helped by an antireflective-coated sapphire crystal. Thommen mainly makes aircraft instrumentation; in fact, they stopped making watches a while back to focus on that part of the business. The Revue Thommen watches have the same look, feel, and functional excellence as their cockpit-mounted kin. This watch is roughly 38mm in diameter and just 10mm thick, with the watch head alone weighing just 39g. The red-dial variants seem especially rare and this one was acquired out of Japan after a long search about a year ago. It only needed a fresh battery and a case cleaning to free up the buttons and has otherwise worked perfectly. It has some light wear but is extremely presentable and has no major flaws. See photos for best indication of cosmetic condition. Comes on an unbranded hook-and-loop astronaut-style nylon strap that suits its aeronautical heritage. Strap is comfy and easily adjustable. The outer white portion of the strap is also glow-in-the-dark. Will sell without the strap for $10 less if requested by buyer. Sold as is, described accurately to best of ability at time of listing.
