Hello,

I am selling my Seiko 0903 Type II from August 1976:

Sober and dressy watch, typical of the 70’s.
Model reserved for the Japanese market (JDM - Japan Domestic Market).
Very pretty brown dial with a gradient, with applied logos and indexes.

It can be seen in volume 1 of the 1977 Seiko catalog (page 16):

CONDITION:

The watch is in very good condition / very well preserved for its age (See Photos).
Note inevitable wear marks on the case and bracelet.
The glass, which is not original, is new.

WORKING ORDER:

The original movement works well (keeping the time, changing the day and changing the date).
Crown deliberately pulled to stop the movement to take photos.
New battery, changed at the beginning of April for sale.

OTHER:

No trace of oxidation.
The bracelet, which is not original but very similar in design, is currently adjusted for a wrist of 16.5/17 cm. Note that I have 5 additional links left to enlarge it by + 2 cm.
The folding clasp has 6 holes, spaced 3 mm each, for optimum adjustment.
Monocrystalline quartz (see logo applied at the bottom of the dial), which was only fitted to high-end models of the time: Grand Quartz, King Quartz, Lord Quartz, Superior Quartz, etc.

The company was founded in 1881, when Kintarō Hattori opened a watch and jewelry shop called "K. Hattori" (服部時計店 Hattori Tokeiten?) in the Ginza area of Tokyo, Japan. Eleven years later, in 1892, he began to produce clocks under the name Seikosha (精工舎 Seikōsha?), meaning roughly "House of Exquisite Workmanship". According to Seiko's official company history, titled "A Journey In Time: The Remarkable Story of Seiko" (2003), Seiko is a Japanese word meaning "exquisite" or "success" ("exquisite" is usually written 精巧 from Chinese jīngqiǎo, while the meaning "success" is usually written 成功 from Chinese chénggōng).

Seiko is perhaps best known for its wristwatches, all of which were at one time produced entirely in-house. This includes not only major items such as microgears, motors, hands, crystal oscillators, batteries, sensors, LCDs but also minor items such as the oils used in lubricating the watches and the luminous compounds used on the hands and the dials.
