From the Autodromo Archives for a more details of the watch and its history: The Group B Evoluzione was limited to 200 pieces, reflecting the the Group B Era’s manufacturers’ requirement to build 200 road-going examples in order to certify -- or homologate -- a car for racing. The Group B Evoluzione is slightly larger in diameter (42MM) than the standard Group B watch, and features an integral crown guard. What makes the Evoluzione an "evolved" version of the watch is the steel chassis of the Group B is replaced with a CNC-milled Aerospace Aluminum part, shedding an additional 7 grams in weight off of the already feather-light 52 grams of the original watch. In contrast to the hand-finished stainless steel chassis of the standard watch, the Evoluzione’s aluminum chassis is taken straight from the CNC machine, anodized and then laser engraved with its unique serial number with no hand finishing. Thanks to precision engineering by Discommon Goods, a computer-guided tool cuts each individual part from billet aluminum. The tool paths form an intricate texture over the entire chassis to achieve an aesthetic that is both beautiful and honest to the manufacturing process. The lightness of the Evoluzione echoes a core characteristic of Group B racecars; the reliance on the most advanced materials to develop lighter, faster automobiles.
