Omega Speedmaster 145.022 CRS / 1982 / with purchase receipt from 1984 / Birthyear watch
Time to rationalise the collection a little and owning two birth year Speedmasters might be a little too much. Another, NOS example stays, and this lovely Speedy can go. So, here's a great opportunity to step into the (neo) vintage Speedmaster world with a very nice, accessibly priced example. Perfectly wearable for every day use! As an added perk; it comes with the original sales receipt from 1984. Perhaps this could be your birthyear Speedy!
Please find an assessment of the watch below. I have attempted to be as brutally honest as can be. Also note that I am certainly not the first owner of this watch. Hence I cannot guarantee originality of parts, although after having handled dozens of 80s and 90s Speedmasters, this one comes across as being unmolested.
Dial: The original dial with all lume plots perfectly in tact. The lume has aged lightly to a an attractive shade and has lost most of its luminous qualities as one would expect of a ±40 yrs old piece. Dial body colour is very slightly anthracite. The printing is perfectly okay too. Under great magnification and when decased, the left subdial shows some faint signs of hand removal, which is impossible to spot when cased.
Hands: Original. As many 80s Tritium Speedmaster hands, the lume is a little darker than the dial
Case: Nice fat case with sharp edges. It looks unmolested but certainly shows signs of wear. Some hairline scratches but overall in very good condition. Caseback is in perfect order with the writing in very sharp condition. There is a tiny engraving on the back of one of the lugs (pictured below).
Bezel: Original DNN bezel (B2) in superb condition. Apart from a very minor mark between the 75 and 80 marks, this bezel could be considered flawless.
Movement and Serial: A trusty 861 manual wound movement with a serial in the 4625xxxx range. Even though there is no extract, I am pretty sure it has been produced in 1982 or 1983. Omega made a bit of a mess of the serial ranges in those years and without an extract it is impossible to be 100% sure. The watch was sold in Remscheid, Germany in 1984.
Needless to say, it runs and winds smoothly with all functions working properly. Strong amplitude on the timegrapher too.
Bracelet: This watch comes head only (+ sales receipt). Upon request, I have some Omega bracelet options available (1171/633 Trapezoid or 1498/840).
Package: Watch only. Well, plus the sales receipt, that is.
Shipped worldwide at buyers expense, although I would strongly prefer a F2F deal in the Netherlands given the value of this piece and the added benefit of meeting a fellow OF-member in person.
No returns, please ask questions and extra pictures in advance. I am not making a habit out of selling, but I do have quite some - exclusively positive - references as a seller and buyer on this forum and could share more.
