For sale is this vintage Seiko "Chariot" (6020-7060), made in Japan in September of 1982. The "Chariot" dress watch series by Seiko is known for their thinness, elegant design and high-quality quartz movements. This example, reference number CGT914, is no exception with its classical styling and design cues. The dial is a simple gold sunburst with high-polish stick baton indices and pencil hands, opting for no minute track to keep the face fuss-free. The Seiko logo, single-crystal quartz symbol and the print at the bottom of the dial are all in black. The Suwa swirl symbol at the bottom of the dial and the case back indicates this watch was designed and manufactured in the Suwa factory during its fierce rivalry with the Daini factory.  The case is the star of the show here with its coin-edged bezel. The detail here contrasts with the simplicity of the rest of the watch and draws the attention. The classical design features continue with the teardrop lugs (or spider leg lugs) that flank the watch nicely. Following the design brief, the case is only 5mm thick so that it can slip under the cuff of a suit as a dress watch. The calibre 6020 movement is a high grade quartz movement by Seiko that is packaged neatly and draws similarities in its looks to the the later developed 9F series of quartz movements for Grand Seiko. The movement was used in some "Dolce" and "Credor" models too. The simplicity extends to the time-only feature and the disregard for a seconds hand, along with the lack of a minute track, signifies that the wearer is in no hurry.  The watch comes on a brand-new Seiko leather strap in a brown/maroon colour. The watch is in decent condition considering its age of over 40 years old. The gold is still relatively intact and the dial is spotless although the crystal has some scratches to it. I would recommend this watch to someone who prefers a slightly smaller old-money dress watch (31mm to mimic vintage watches of this style that were the style pre-1960s) to wear with a dinner suit or a linen shirt summer getup.
