Up for sale is my 1970 Seiko 6139-7010 Speed-Timer. I’ve owned this example since 2016. It was last serviced by Klein Vintage Watches in 2015 with the previous owner. It has remained safe kept and rarely worn over the past nine years. A lot has been written about this spec as a seemingly elusive JDM only watch that gained attention in the mid 2010’s as a collectable. From the legendary 17jewel 6139a chronograph movement to its link to Japan’s special forces training, the story is as compelling as the mechanism and aesthetic. This particular watch is all original and was gracefully offered from the previous owner to me at top dollar in 2016, as according to Spencer Klein at the time, as the best example he’s seen. It is original, correct and nearly mint. Just a couple pin-dots on the glass crystal that are just faintly noticeable in certain light. I opted to keep it as such and not replace with NOS crystal. I’ve paired the case with with a Flucco Shell Cordovan black rally strap. It’s a handsome watch that is significant in the Seiko collector community, yet unassuming.
