The watch was originally owned by a friend who financed the watch in the early 70's to purchase. In early 1980, the bracelet end link came loose while driving his Pontiac GTO in the early 1980s, sending the watch flying onto the highway. It sat in a garage drawer for decades before I acquired it. The case was carefully restored by a veteran watchmaker using precision tools, and the dial and hands were left untouched. This piece carries decades of character yet remains wearable, authentic, and documented. **Details** *Model:* Rolex Submariner 1680 *Serial:* 2.82M (1971 production year) *Dial:* Matte white “feet first” SWISS – T < 25 tritium dial *Lume:* Original pumpkin-colored tritium on both dial and hands. No lume has fallen out for many decades. *Hands:* Original, naturally aged, matching dial tone. Makes this the most beautiful 1680 I have seen or owned. *Movement:* Rolex 1570 with date function. *Case:* Original case professionally restored. The rehaut (crystal seat) had been bent in the fall and was reshaped using precision methods. Minimal material removed. Watchmaker receipts included. *Bezel:* High-quality aftermarket bezel with a $500 faded insert. Original bent bezel ring and a vintage Rolex insert (not fitted) are also included. Original insert along with the crystal at the time of impact in early 1980. *Crystal:* Currently fitted with a high-dome TrueDome acrylic. A cyclops-style replacement crystal is included. *Bracelet:* Rolex 93150 folded-link bracelet with one 285 end link. *Ownership:* Two owners total.
