Picture it. New York. 1959. You get that big promotion and you want to treat yourself. It’s not Rolex you’re turning to. Nope, it’s Omega. And today, whether you’re new to watches or a seasoned collector, it’s hard to beat the value of a vintage Omega. This one is particularly sought after, and near and dear to my heart, speaking to the writer brain, an early Geneve with gorgeous cursive crosshair dial. I mean look at that font! REFERENCE: 14702 DATE: 1959 DIAL: Beautiful two tone dial - outer ring is slightly darker than the inner cream color, with beautiful oversized hour markers, classic crosshair, and to me the star of the show, that sweet cursive Geneve signature. Light wear and some speckling patina seen up close but looks great, about as clean as these come - we should all hope to look this good at 66! CRYSTAL: Plexi crystal has wear throughout, naturally, but nothing that takes away from that gorgeous dial. CASE: Classic vintage Omega at 34mm, and the stainless case appears unpolished with sharp lines and really nice original chamfers on the lugs. Pictured on my 6.6 inch wrist it wears perfectly, given the thin bezel and thicker lugs, comparable to a 36MM Datejust. Wear throughout, as expected from over the decades, but sharp and looks fantastic. MOVEMENT: Omega automatic movement running well with timegrapher showing 9 seconds per day and an amplitude of 243.
