Due to some non watch-related circumstances I need to sell part of my collection. This week I offered for sale an Omega chronograph, a Tudor Oyster and now this Cartier Santos.

Cartier is best known for its jewelry, but it also has a very rich history when it comes to watchmaking. In 1888, Cartier started making women's wristwatches. At that time, it was more common for men to choose the traditional pocket watch. In 1904, Louis Cartier gave a good Brazilian friend, Santos Dumont, who was an aviation pioneer, a watch to wear during flights because he complained about the impracticality of using a pocket watch while flying.

This Cartier Santos (I beleve it is reference 2961) is in good and original condition. The watch has a size of 29 x 41 mm, the perfect medium size for both men and women. The screwed bezel and the integrated strap (that shows little stretch for its age) are made of 18K yellow gold. The clasp is provided with the well-known "C'' Cartier logo. I beleve the case is unpolished, but has some scratches and wear, so the new owner can decide whether to polish it or not.
It has an automatic movement which runs well. Service history is unknown and I have not serviced it while in my possession.
