Description: Offered for sale is a rare and stunning Grand Seiko 6146-8050, a model produced for only two months in 1972, making it one of the most uncommon and under-the-radar vintage GS references. This watch comes from my personal collection, and it’s one I’ve held onto for good reason—it’s outlasted nearly every other GS I’ve owned, and remains a favorite. The VFA-style case is what drew me to it: bold, angular, and unmistakably refined. It carries strong architectural lines, paired with a set of raised markers and shortened sword hands that give the dial a distinct depth and character. At 38 mm it is one of the largest vintage Grand Seikos. The dial is in perfect original condition! I have read that the case is made form HSS like the VFA model and Special. The case is unpolished, preserving the sharp original geometry, with some signs of use consistent with age, but in overall fantastic vintage condition. Importantly, the original faceted crystal is still present—a detail often lost on this reference, as many examples have had theirs replaced. This one has only been lightly polished and still catches the light beautifully. Powering the watch is the Grand Seiko Hi-Beat Caliber 6146, known for its precision and reliability. This example was serviced toward the end of last year and is running smoothly.
