The legend behind the Cartier Pasha is that in the 1930s, the Pasha of Marrakech, Morocco, sought a watch with waterproof resistance beyond that available at the time, and in response Cartier designed the Pasha, most uniquely distinguishable for its large waterproof crown cover chained to the side of the watch. Originally a custom watch, Cartier put variants of the model into production, running from 1985 through to today. Up for sale is one of those such models--a Cartier Pasha Reference 2738, dating back to the 2000s. This Pasha measures in with a robust 38mm diameter stainless steel case. The watch comes on its original Cartier bracelet. It features a guilloche finish silver dial in the front, with its automatic and Cartier-decorated automatic movement visible through a display caseback once the watch is flipped. The Pasha is a true Cartier sport watch, while at the same time never abandoning Cartier's commitment to design. This watch features tritium on the indices that has darkened and no longer glows due to its age. The blued steel sword hands for the watch originally had tritium lume, but I asked my watchmaker to skeletonize the hands. I think it makes for a nice compliment to the display case back.
