It has been with me through many deployments, exercises, and jumps leading to a ton of stories. In my opinion, it has a beautiful patina. From the splintered loom on the hour hand, to the scuffed dome. It shows that this is truly a working man’s field watch and not a museum time piece. My favorite part of the watch is the radiation warning symbol which makes it a talking piece for any watch enthusiast. I’ve been at several meet ups with watches in the six figures, but people love to ask about this unique tiny watch. The reason I am selling it is that my grandfather has recently passed and left me his Explorer that he wore throughout his time in the Army. I am looking to continue that history and adopt it as my new daily. The watch: The watch is dated March 1983 with a DLA part number of 400-82-C-4345. It comes with an OD green pass-through strap which seems to be the original issued strap (I could not confirm). There are no box and papers. I’d be surprised to see a H3 with them as I have never kept the box for anything I’ve been issued. I wonder if that will come to bite me in the ass in 20 years when something becomes a collectible! The watch is a 33mm case but wears a little bigger. Perhaps feeling a tad smaller than my 36mm DJ. It is so light that it does not even feel like it is on your wrist. I set the watch every morning that I wore it, and it held time throughout the day. I am not sure of the service history, and I would recommend factoring that in the future if you want a fire and forget watch. Happy to answer any questions!
