For sale today is a nice pie pan Constellation from the late 50s.

Brand: Omega, Model: Constellation, Ref.: 14393, Cal. 561, Serial number: 17'602'xxx

Description as follows:

- Dial: Original crosshair pie pan dial in average condition, with clear signs of aging. The dial has aged evenly to a champagne color, going well with the yellow gold markers and hands set, which look quite nice. All words, markers, and the crosshair are still well visible.

- Case: Sharp case, all facets of the lugs and bezel are clearly visible, most likely unpolished. The gold Observatory medallion on the back is in good shape with clear 8 stars.

- Crown: I know thin scalloped or decagon crowns are expected for this reference. However, this thicker type of crown is also believed to be period-correct as well. I have several examples of the same crown on the 14381/14393 that I can share via PMs (so as not to be confused with this watch), and this was also discussed here.

- Movement: The Omega caliber 561 serial number 17'602'xxx dates the watch to approximately 1959, which would also match the production range of 1958-1962 for the 14393 & 14381 references. The watch is running, the date jump is functioning as it should, but the winding seems a bit stiff. So please factor in a service.

- Plexiglass: Original with sign.

- Bracelet: Omega Beads of Rice No. 1037 with one 570 endlink. Comfortably fits my 7 1/4" wrist.

Founded at La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland in 1848 by 23-year-old Louis Brandt who assembled key-wound precision pocket watches from parts supplied by local craftsmen. He travelled throughout Europe selling his watches from Italy to Scandinavia by way of England, his chief market. After Louis Brandt's death in 1879, his two sons Louis-Paul and Cesar, troubled by irregular deliveries of questionable quality, abandoned the unsatisfactory assembly workshop system in favour of in-house manufacturing and total production control. Due to the greater supply of manpower, communications and energy in Bienne, the enterprise moved into a small factory in January 1880, then bought the entire building in December. Two years later the company moved into a converted spinning-factory in the Gurzelen district of Bienne, where headquarters are still situated today. Their first series-produced calibres, Labrador and Gurzelen, as well as, the famous Omega calibre of 1894, would ensure the brand's marketing success.
