Up for sale is my Universal Geneve Polerouter. This one has the later style ‘microrotor’ movement and features a no-lume dial. The dial is also what collectors call “undesignated” which you can read more about here if you are interested. The crystal is original, as are the crown and caseback. I also believe the strap to be original. There are some small scratches on the crystal (but pretty amazingly clean for an original), and the caseback very faintly reads: "Stainless Steel" "Swiss" "20363/3" From Hodinkee: Universal Genève has gained traction with its chronograph wristwatches in particular, but the Polerouter model has garnered a myriad of fans due to its simple design aesthetics representing the 1950s and 1960s. It was designed by a young, up-and-coming jewelry / watch designer named Gerald Genta in 1954, who would go on to become a revered watch designer with his iconic creations of the Nautilus for Patek Philippe, Royal Oak for Audemars Piguet, and Ingenieur for IWC. This model was originally introduced with a bumper movement, but as with many models, the bumper movement took its toll on the rest of the movement. In addition, the race for the thinnest movement was happening around the same period. Considering that Universal Genèvewas the first one to trademark the name “microrotor,” it was a great opportunity to showcase this technical feat for the brand.
