Good evening and happy holidays, WatchEx! Posting up 3 tonight, number two on the list: the Weiss Standard Issue Field Watch in 42mm, with the now-scarce L.A. dial. One of the only true American watches of any significance anymore, Weiss is truly a special brand. This iteration of the Standard Issue Field is one of the older models in industry savant Cameron Wiess' catalog, from an era where their watches were all hand assembled in Los Angeles, prior to moving the bulk of their operations to Nashville. Ticking away in the gorgeous exhibition caseback is the mir Caliber 1001 - a highly decorated movement that begins life as an ETA 6497 that was assembled/decorated in-house in Los Angeles. Now, any time you have a 42mm watch with little or no bezel, it's going to look large. Such is the case with this model, though it is very wearable with shorter, straight-shooting lugs. I'm just shy of 7" (and my wrist size is 6.9", too) and it fits me very nicely, with no lug overhang on either side of my wrist. It wears flat, absolutely kills with just about any strap, and is legible from space.
