Intro:  It’s laughable on its face to say that any steel sports Rolex is rare, that said, for a company that makes 1MM+ watches a year the 116600 is about as rare as they come. Produced in an uncharacteristically short run from 2014 through 2017, fewer than 30,000 units were made per Rolex. The “SD4K” was the last of the 40mm Sea-Dwellers. It bridged the gap between overbuilt but still anachronistic new-vintage models with aluminum bezels and jingly bracelets (and sh\*tty claps) and the 43mm 126600 which. It was the last Sea-Dweller to \*not\* use a cyclops for the date window which is notable and the purists choice. I doubt it sold well, it was a time before Rolex was white hot—it had to sit in a case alongside Submariners and Submariner Date models at a fraction of the price. I turned one of these down at an AD circa 2016, I didn’t have two cents to rub together at the time. Condition:  This was purchased NOS by me in 2024. Full stickers. Full kit. The stickers have gone but the factory finish remains. I’m a stickler for original finish, so buying NOS was the only way to ensure this had never been polished. This watch has never been polished, I hope it never is. The watch has been professionally resized by my AD when I got it. Otherwise it’s been worn and that’s it. Hairline scratches and scuffs primarily on the bracelet and claps. No dings large enough to catch your nail on. It has not been abused.
