Often nicknamed the IWC “Tank” due to its square case, this reference captures the era’s appreciation for balanced proportions and timeless form. Inside beats the respected IWC Caliber 402, a hand-wound movement produced during the mid to late 1960s. Known for its robustness and precision, the Cal. 402 features a sweeping seconds hand, Incabloc shock protection, and a Breguet hairspring—hallmarks of IWC’s no-nonsense engineering philosophy. The movement number 1969125 dates it firmly to the late 1960s, aligning perfectly with the case and reference. The rectangular case measures approximately 33mm excluding the crown, wearing slim and elegant on the wrist with classic vintage presence. The clean dial and minimalist markers complement the sharp geometry of the case, creating a watch that feels architectural, quiet, and confident.
