Just the one for tonight - The Glycine Combat 36 GL0543, a stealthy/smaller solution to one of the best affordable Swiss divers in modern history, and the perfect affordable alternative to the newer blue dial Black Bay 54. Surely by now you've encountered a Combat Sub (or a dozen) out in the wild. Glycine has a long, rich story in Swiss watch asking that far predates their acquisition ~9 years ago. Still running as an independent brand, Glycine has its own character and distinct designs on largely practical watches for budget-minded watch nuts. Some of my favorite watches early into my collecting days were Glycine - a blue Combat Sub and the black/black Airmain GMT. It's pretty rare that my rotation does not include a Glycine, and this 36mm Combat has been a really fun watch to wear. The 36mm Combat Sub isn't as small as you'd think - it hardly wears smaller than the 39mm line. I've got ~6.75" wrists, and this is extremely comfortable., The bracelet is simple but very good, and the design is distinctively Glycine. The addition of black hands and raised hour markers (outlined in black) really make the dial pop - this is a near-perfect daily driver if you're into a bright pop of color.
