It’s called the Holy Grail for a reason, this particular Omega Speedmaster is a rare bird. Named by the late celebrated Omega collector and historian Chuck Maddox, there are entire websites dedicated to just this piece (throw me a DM and I’ll pass along, great read!) But basically from 1987-1988 Omega released their first automatic full sized Speedmaster with day and date functions, and it’s believed only 1800 were ever produced. To find one is hard to begin with, but to find one with first state dial, bezel, bracelet, end links AND box… I’m confident in saying this example, which just returned from a full service, is the nicest to hit the market in a while! REFERENCE: ST 376.0822 SERIAL: 48,231,XXX YEAR: 1987-1988 DIAL: Classic black Speedmaster dial with the addition of the day and date. Gorgeous example with a few areas of patina seen up close. The lume has aged to a beautiful creamy color, with tritium lighting up evenly under UV (though minute hands looks to have been redone in the past.) All in looks fantastic, and rare to find the first state dial with the concentric circle sub dials. CRYSTAL: Appears to be the original and correctly unsigned Omega crystal, which has wear throughout of course but still presents well and nothing that takes away from that dial. BEZEL: Original Omega B2 bezel with correct serif on 7. Most were replaced over the years with a B4 bezel, so this is great to see complete. CASE: 42MM stainless case with the classic moonwatch lines. This appears to be unpolished, with age-related wear throughout. Still looks great on the wrist (photographed on mine at 6.6 inches) with beautiful sharp lines. MOVEMENT: Legendary within the Omega world, the automatic Omega cal 1045 (with a Lemania 5100 base) just returned from a full service and comes with a 1 year warranty. Check out the pics - very cool to see, including the CRS stamped case back. So many were either lost over time or serviced replaced with later examples. This is all there, including extra links to make it full, and presents very clean with just regular wear throughout. ACCESSORIES: Comes with its original Omega box and original outer Omega sleeve, Omega cloth, plus the service receipt.
