Own a COOL watch and piece of horology history! For sale is my 1940s LeCoultre chronograph (up until \~late 1960s, JLC marketed their watches in the US as “LeCoultre”.) Inside is the legendary manual wind Universal Geneve 285 movement, a workhorse introduced in the 1940s and produced for several decades thereafter. You will find this movement in watches made by JLC, Cartier, Universal Geneve, and Girard-Pirregaux. Watch is 35 mm and wears more like 36/37 IMO (see wrist shot on my \~6.75” wrist) This watch tells great time (running 5 seconds fast in last 24 hours), however the chronograph needs attention. The chrono worked great when I bought it 10 years ago, but stopped a couple years back. My local watch guy couldn’t figure out how to get it back going when I got it cleaned last year. Stainless steel case in nice condition – expected swirls and wear for an 80 year old watch, but no major dings. I am listing this for $1800, which includes insured shipping and the watch, a beautiful brown leather strap and a new old stock green military canvas strap. Payment by venmo, not looking to trade.
