The Kanji(Japanese) date highly complements the dial. Such textured dials are highly sought after in Seiko world, so this is a great investment piece as well. They're only released in Japan, JDM model. Actus was introduced as a premium sub-brand of Seiko like the Alpinist or the Prospex brands of today. Actus variant had a higher jewel movement and marketed as “young, activity line”, compared to the standard Seiko 5. "SS" logo is also stamped on some Actus models which is the short form of Second Setting. Models with the SS logo comes with hacking function. This one being one of them has hacking.
