Back in the 2000s, TAG Heuer asked INDTEC (now Soprod) to develop a perpetual calendar movement with regatta timer and chronograph complications. And thus, the Calibre S was born. AFAIK, the regatta version which you see here was only made in 2007 and 2008. The Calibre S isn’t a regular quartz movement. It’s a 27-jewel meca-quartz movement, or electro-mechanical as per TAG Heuer. From what I’ve seen, they call it mechanical due to the gears used in the retrograde mechanism. I’ve attached a picture so you can see how it looks. The regatta timer counts down from -10 to -1 minute and lets you synchronize the hands with official timing signals. There’s also a 1/10th chronograph function. Some enthusiasts claim it’s “the most amazing caliber in the history of TAG Heuer” due to its complexity. Now, let’s address the elephant in the room: the perpetual calendar. You can view the day via the counters located at 4:30 and 7:30 when the chronograph and regatta functions aren’t in use. The month and year can be set by pulling the crown to the first position. Everything was properly adjusted, so it’s ready to be worn. **Details & More** Condition: Good for its age.
