Another great vintage Seiko for sale from my personal collection, this is a beautiful 1971 Seiko 6117-6140 Navigator Timer GMT with rotating inner bezel.
Good to very good overall condition, with a very bright dial and inner bezel, but given this is a vintage piece, let me add a bit of color:
Please see photos, which are part of the description. Note that I’m taking hi res closeups in bright natural light in an attempt to fully expose every minor flaw. The watch presents quite well on wrist and in natural settings.
As illustrated in the photos, the 50+ year old watch has signs of wear throughout, including hairlines throughout the case, as well as some light scratches and minor dings, but nothing deep or severe IMO. The case shape, importantly, remains quite sharp with nice case lines, particularly the long beveled edge running lug to lug. The case diameter is ~41mm, but wears quite well given the cushion design (approx 45mm lug-to-lug and 12mm thick, including the highly domed hesalite crystal).
The recessed, concave crown at 4 operates the Seiko caliber 6117B movement, which is a hacking, 21,600 vph, GMT with quickset date (note: no hand-winding and no independent operation of the GMT hand, which is tied to the position of the hour hand, making 1 rotation per 24 hours). The crown also operates the inner rotating 24-hour bezel, which is in beautiful, bright condition.
The dial is very clean with sharp printing, bright applied Seiko at 12, “Navigator Timer” and “Water 70m Resist” text at 6, above a Suwa logo (awesome). Suwa logo is also on the caseback, which is also clean and sharp. The hands are bright and crisp, but show a very faint tarnish. Crooked GMT hand is bright (such a cool touch).
No service history, but the movement starts right up with a shake and keeps accurate time (within +/- 1 minute per day observed). I make no reps regarding water resistance. It’s a vintage watch… don’t swim in it. The hesalite crystal shows some wear and a couple small dings around the outer edge (most noticeable near 8). The watch is on an excellent condition Uncle Seiko railroad style bracelet, a perfect match IMO. Large enough for a 7.5” wrist. 20mm lugs.
Really, an awesome example of a super cool early 70s Seiko… when Seiko was near their absolute pinnacle.
I’m asking $375. I accept PayPal and will ship in the CONUS using USPS Priority Mail. Watch only (no box and papers).
Please let me know if you have questions. Happy to do my best to answer.
Feel free to shoot me a DM here, or you can find me on IG @danielcdaly.
Thanks for taking a look!
