1979 Seiko 6309-7049 “Turtle” Case: Good condition, signs of wear. Scratches and dings are present. Doesn’t appear to have ever been polished. Watch could use a movement service/adjustment and new gaskets. Bezel: Very good condition for its age. Bezel action is slightly stiff but functional. Little wear or chipping on the bezel insert. Dial: Dial is flawless with no imperfections and the lume has faded to extremely light cream. The “WATER RESIST” text that would have originally been red has faded to a monochromatic dark grey. Hands: Hands are in acceptable condition. There is some oxidation on the outer chrome edging, along with what could be the start of some pitting on the hour/minutes hand. Lume color in the hands is close to what the dial lume is. Please see the photos to assess condition. Crystal: Original Hardlex crystal, light scratching from normal use. Overall still in good condition, no need to replace. Movement: Runs, but could use a service. Movement looks to be in decent condition, but there are no watchmaker marks in the caseback so it is possible it has never been serviced. Timegrapher shows it is running at +152 seconds a day with an amplitude of 251. Beat error is at 5.9ms. It’s possible this watch could be running well with just an adjustment alone.
