For sale is this vintage Seiko Lord Quartz, made in Japan, in April of 1978. Lord Quartz the premium mid-range series just under the Grand Quartz and King Quartz series during the golden age of quartz when quartz watches were more expensive than their mechanical counterparts. The 1978 Seiko catalog states that the Lord Quartz series was aimed at young businessmen. They featured the beautiful calibre 7853 movement which has a stated accuracy of +/- 10 seconds a month - a very decent performance (e.g. Casio f-91w has a stated accuracy of +/- 30 seconds a month). The briefing for Lord Quartz watches was to be slim and elegant. This model, reference number QHY030, has an intricate textured cream dial that is in a grill-style pattern. The sharp stick baton indices have a high-polish finish with a black centre. The pencil hands are ink black to contrast with the dial. The Seiko logo and single crystal quartz symbol are applied. The Suwa swirl symbol at the bottom of the dial and on the case back indicates that the watch was designed and manufactured by the Suwa factory during their fierce rivalry with the Daini factory. The case has a hidden lug design that gives the watch a very clean look. The top surface is finely brushed while the chamfer and sides are high-polish. The watch is very slim at just 8.4mm and has a screw-down case back to improve its water resistant capabilities, although I cannot guarantee any water resistance given it is vintage. The day wheel can be in English or Japanese Kanji with Saturday being in blue, Sunday in red and the rest of the days in black print. It comes on a JDM "Bambi" branded Milanese mesh bracelet with adjustable length. The watch is in good condition considering it was made almost 50 years ago. The original finishing is still intact, minor general wear and some scratches to the crystal. No problem with the time and functions.
